Berries and small fruit

    How They Grow

    • Jolife raspberries, blueberries and strawberries are harvested when the colour is very intense but still robust.
    • They are harvested in the cool hours of the morning to keep the characteristics of the fruit intact.
    • The Jolife branded packaging is specifically designed to avoid damaging the fruit during transportation to the point of sale.

    Their benefits

    • Rich in vitamin C and organic acids, a protective agent of the digestive system; they contain good quantities of simple sugars, vitamin A and mineral salts.
    • Raspberries can be used as diuretics, while blueberries are useful for blood circulation and for the eyes.
    • Blueberries are rich in resveratrol, a substance with antioxidant capacities which is classified as anti-aging, as it is able to combat cellular aging. It can also perform a protective action against influenza viruses, inhibiting their replication within cells.
    • Strawberries stimulate the production of serotonin and melanin, substances that are able to have a positive effect on mood.

    Conservation

They are purchased ripe so can be preserved in the least cold part of the refrigerator for approximately 1-2 days.
As they are very delicate fruits, berries and the raspberry in particular should absolutely not be exposed to the sun or left for lengthy periods at room temperature.
Raspberries, if slightly sugared, will last longer.
Raspberries or blueberries can also be frozen naturally when purchased, to be consumed throughout the year. At the time of use, you can avoid thawing them completely; in this way, they will retain their shape better.
Strawberries must be washed only before consumption so as to avoid more rapid deterioration of their nutritional properties.
